I’m going to launch a new series today called “Failure stories of successful people” to highlight the value of failure.

The Journey of Wilma Rudolph-From Polio to Olympic Glory

 The Narrative of Triumphant Failure

There is probably no person who has tasted success without seeing failure in his life.

It is certain that if you want to be successful, you will have to climb the steps of failure.

As long as we keep trying to achieve our goal, we are not unsuccessful. Whether we get success or not.

Thomas Edison made 10,000 attempts to create electricity. Considering that Edison succeeded in his ten thousandth try and ultimately invented electricity, will we consider his 9999 tries to be ineffective?

No! Edison kept trying despite his numerous failures, and it was only after 9999 failed efforts that he was able to achieve success.

To be successful, the rate of failure will have to be increased, which means that one will have to try again and again because “by practicing again and again, a dullard becomes intelligent”

To explain the importance of failure, today I am going to start a new series ” Failure stories of successful people

My goal in creating this series is to help us realize that failure is the only way to success while we are feeling defeated by it. Achieving success is not as simple as that. To do that, we must ascend the ladder of failure each day before arriving at the summit of success. Therefore, we must never give up until we achieve our goals. Continue to fail, but never give up. Success will undoubtedly kiss your feet one day.

This series begins with a story by Wilma Rudolph.

Wilma Rudolph was born on 23 June 1940 in a poor family in Tennessee, America. You all know that Wilma Rudolph was the first American woman to win three track and field gold medals in a single Olympics.

She tasted amazing success but when we know her story, we will know how many hardships she faced, how much she struggled for this success, only then she was able to fulfill the dreams of her life and succeeded in writing the amazing and seemingly impossible story of success.

Wilma Rudolph contracted polio at the age of four as a result of having black fever and double pneumonia. In the past, she supported her legs with a brace. The doctor had predicted that she would not be able to walk, but Wilma’s mother praised her for her bravery and assured her that she would be able to accomplish all of her life’s goals if she used the skills, diligence, and commitment that God had given her.

Sick Wilma was a little disappointed. She asked her mother, Mother! I want to become the fastest runner in this world. How can I become one? Her mother said- Dear, you can definitely become one. Convert your willpower into strong willpower. God will also definitely give you his blessings to help you reach your goal.

Inspired by her mother’s words, Wilma Rudolph developed such a strong willpower that, at the age of 9, she removed the braces from her legs despite the doctor’s warnings. The doctors had said she would never be able to walk, but she defied all odds.

This story teaches us that challenges and failures cannot stop us if we transform our willpower into determination. Her mother’s belief in her and Wilma’s own hard work gave her the courage to achieve the impossible.

We cannot even begin to imagine the pain Wilma endured at such a young age. At the age of 13, she participated in her first race competition and finished last. After that, she took part in the second, third, fourth, and countless more competitions, always finishing in the last position. However, she never gave up. She kept trying and trying until the day she finally came in first place.

At the age of 15, Wilma’s life took a significant turn when she met Coach Ed Temple. With immense determination, she shared her dream, “I want to become the fastest runner in the world.” Coach Temple, noticing her unwavering resolve, replied, “Your willpower is so strong that nothing can stop you from reaching your goal. I will help you achieve this dream.” His belief in her abilities became the spark that ignited Wilma’s journey towards greatness. Under his guidance, Wilma’s potential began to flourish, and her dream of becoming the fastest runner started taking shape.

Then Wilma started practising under Temple’s guidance. Finally the day came when Wilma took part in the Olympics. The world’s best players compete in the Olympics. Here Wilma had to compete against a fast runner named Jutta Hahn whom no one had been able to defeat. First of all, the race was of 100 meters. In this first race, Wilma defeated Jutta Hahn and won her first gold medal. Then after that, the second race was of 200 meters, in this too, she defeated Jutta and won her second gold medal. After this, the third race was a 400-meter relay race and in this race Wilma was again competing with Jutta. The last part of the relay race is run by the fastest athlete of the team, so both Wilma and Jutta had to run in the last part of the race for their respective teams. Three people of Wilma’s team ran in the first three parts of the relay race and easily changed the baton but when it was Wilma’s turn to run, the baton slipped from her hand.

Wilma stood still for a moment, stunned. What should she do? Suddenly, she saw Wyomia Tyus speeding towards her from the other end. Without any hesitation, Wilma swiftly grabbed the fallen baton and, with lightning speed, ran with all her might. She managed to overtake Tyus for the third time and secured her third gold medal, inscribing her name in the pages of history. Wilma became immortal in the world of sports, not only winning gold but also becoming an eternal source of inspiration for millions.

The news spread like wildfire in all directions — a woman who had once suffered from paralysis had now become the fastest runner in the world at the 1960 Olympics!

So, we must understand that success and achievement are not easily attained. It takes years of hard work, years of effort, and years of failure before one finally encounters success. It is only after failure that we truly taste the sweetness of success. Therefore, until success is achieved, continue to fail, but never stop trying. Success will eventually stand right in front of you. History is a testament that only those who never gave up on failure are the ones who tasted success.

Stay tuned for the second story in the series of “Failures of Successful People.
